Position available at Geoji Sea World which is in Tongyeong City, South Korea near Busan, the second largest city in South Korea. This position is for a 1 year contract that is renewable annually based on performance and skill development. The veterinarian should have a good working knowledge of marine mammal medicine and at least 6 months combined experience in veterinary medicine with an emphasis on exotics/marine species a big plus. Must be able to collect blood, cytology samples, and have a working knowledge of ultrasound and flexible endoscopes. Needs to develop skills of the operation and maintenance of a clinical pathology laboratory with the help of an assistant.
This is an entry level position working on a collection of cetaceans including Pacific bottlenose dolphins and Beluga whales. The position supplies a daily noon meal, health insurance, free housing in Korea,and one trip home per year. You would be working as the point veterinarian at Geoji Sea World with daily interaction with Dr. Michael B Briggs, who is the companies Veterinary and Husbandry Consultant.
Must be physically able to work in both hot and cold climatic conditions as the climate is temperate and most work is outside. Need to be able to lift 20 kg without injury to self. Skills which are a definite plus are experience with ultrasound and/or endoscopy. Ability to speak and read Korean is desirable .
